JOB DESCRIPTION
Mackay Regional Council has an opportunity for an experienced Youth Development Worker to join our team at the Sarina Youth Centre; on a permanent full-time basis.
The Role:
The Youth Development Officer works with the youth and community of the Sarina area to identify the needs of young people and develop, implement and evaluate appropriate strategies to meet those needs. This position is based at the Sarina Youth Centre and is responsible for the coordination of the programming and service delivery from the centre.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Qualifications in Community Development, Social Work or Human Services or equivalent and/or relevant qualifications and experience.
- Experience and proven ability working with vulnerable populations, preferably young people in need or at risk.
- Current QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence
- Ability to display discretion and integrity when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
- Sound verbal communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Sound computer skills and the ability to use reporting systems relevant to the position.
- Ability to work with the broader community, support of programs, planning and community consultation skills.
- Awareness of community structures and systems that exist to support young people.
Blue Card - It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Working with Children Blue Card. Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment – No Card, No Start policy. Salary & Benefits Package
- Base annual salary range from $67,585 - $82,036 (the level offered will be determined on the successful candidates qualifications and experience)
- Up to 18% superannuation (conditions apply)
