An appropriately qualified and experienced person is being sought to undertake the role of Environmental Health Officer within Council’s Health and Community Development Department. This is an exciting opportunity to join the environmental health team and work on a wide variety of environmental and public health programs to improve health standards within the community. Clarence is an environmentally responsible city that values its natural environment. The successful applicant can develop their skill base and enjoy the diverse industry that Clarence has to offer.

DUTIES

  • Assist in the delivery of public and environmental health programs including environmental monitoring and sampling
  • Enforce legislation governing public health for both the built and natural environment in order to promote good public health and environmental practices.
  • Deliver education and awareness programs relevant to environmental health to improve standards within the community.

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

The successful applicant will need to have completed a Bachelor of Health Science (Environmental Health), or an equivalent recognised qualification. Previous experience working in a Local Government environment will be highly regarded. You will need to have initiative, resourcefulness and excellent time management skills. The ability to effectively communicate at all levels is a must, together with a focus on high-level customer service delivery.

A salary range between $76,977 and $85,564 will be negotiated with the successful applicant plus 12.5% superannuation and a 19-day fortnight.
