About the Role

I'm seeking a Design Manager to oversee the design delivery for the electrical balance of plant on renewable energy projects, with the initial focus being on a large wind farm. You will be comfortable in preliminary design and will review the compliance of detailed design and quality, including workmanship and progress monitoring throughout construction. You will also have good commercial acumen for the negotiation and management of technical aspects on contracts for balance of plant (EPC, D&C, JV, Alliances etc.) and consultancy agreements.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute design strategies for electrical balance of plant projects
  • Carry out preliminary design and review detailed design carried out by external parties
  • Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with applicable laws, standards, codes of conduct and legislative requirements
  • Assist in the negotiation and management of balance of plant contracts and consultancy agreements
  • Manage relationships and interfaces between various stakeholders to achieve project design objectives
  • Manage and nurture junior engineers
Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred, civil or mechanical may be considered)
  • Demonstrated understanding of design principles, contracts, schedules, documentation management, and stakeholder management
  • Significant experience in electrical balance of plant projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Negotiation skills and ability to relate to diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise accordingly
