  • Genuine career growth opportunity
  • Exposure to all aspects of financial planning
  • Join our award-winning Wealth Advisory team!

Our Wealth Advisory team is growing, with the last 12 months being particularly strong. As a result, we have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven Associate Advisor (senior paraplanner) to join our team!

If you are looking for a challenging role with broad exposure to all aspects of financial planning, mentoring from some of the best financial advisors (planners) in Australia (check the Top 100!), and want to develop your career then this may be the right role for you!

You will be joining an outstanding team of high performing individuals with a long history of providing 'fee-only', client centric advice, aimed at helping them to achieve their non-financial objectives by delivering great financial outcomes.

This role will have you at the forefront of managing the client relationship, as well as being key to the strategic direction of the client’s affairs. In industry terms this is a front and back office role but that’s not how we look at our team.

As part of William Buck, you will have the opportunity to partner with other divisions of the business, including accounting, taxation and corporate advisory, allowing us to provide wholistic and strategic value to our clients rather than simply being ‘product focused’.

Our training and development programs aim to develop highly skilled, well rounded advisors capable of being true financial project managers at the centre of their client’s financial lives. Our programs encompass both intensive technical training covering investments, client engagement, and tax, as well as a strong focus on developing the soft skills needed to engage with a client on an advice basis without ‘selling’.

Combining a high level of technical expertise, and genuine interest in our client’s ambitions, we develop wealth creation, tax minimisation, retirement, superannuation (incl. SMSF) and asset protection strategies that encompass far more than just money management and investments.

We manage approximately $1bn in assets (Sydney office, for a relatively low number of clients) and we run our own portfolios so investment strategies are certainly important to us and our clients.

Under our own license, you will work closely with our Directors and Senior Advisors, to provide sophisticated, tailored advice to our successful business owners, high level executives and ultra-high net worth families.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day to day client relationship, becoming the first point of contact for client enquiries
  • Attending client meetings with Senior Advisor / Director, and presenting as required
  • Assisting with the preparation of complex strategic SOA’s
  • Liaising and working with other divisions in the wider William Buck business to deliver great outcomes for the client.
  • Researching and developing financial strategies for clients, including strategy formation across multiple entities (Family Trusts, Companies, SMSFs etc)
  • Preparation of engagement letters
  • Administration relating to implementation including, establishing / rolling over superannuation funds, investments funds, share portfolios etc
  • Managing and tracking client portfolios

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Degree qualified in Commerce, Economics, or similar discipline
  • 3+ years' experience working in the industry within financial planning/advice, superannuation consulting environment, technical role or accounting is preferable.
  • Ideally come from a paraplanning or client services background
  • Exceptional client service focus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good lateral thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Word, Excel and Xplan skills

Join a firm that’s philosophy of ‘Changing Lives’ is present in everything that we do!
