An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Assistant Manager to join our team in our Summer Hill Support Office. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Assistant Manager will assist and be responsible for overseeing the day to day management of the payroll function. You will be responsible for a team of 7 and for the delivery of fortnightly payrolls covering over 4,500 Team Members together with a monthly Head Office payroll of 100 Team Members whilst ensuring compliance with legislation and company policy.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Processing the Group payrolls in accordance with our Retail Employees Enterprise Agreement, Awards and salary employment contracts.
  • Managing the accurate and timely processing of new Team Members and changes to existing Team Members ensuring the accurate capture of contracted hours in the Payroll system and Time and Attendance systems.
  • Maintaining the payroll system and time and attendance system to ensure properly configured to facilitate the accurate processing of payroll transactions.
  • Ensuring the accurate calculation, processing, reporting and payment of leave, termination payments, employment related taxes and superannuation in a timely manner.
  • Completing timely and accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Working collaboratively and maintaining strong relationships with Human Resources and other departments.
  • Delivering high customer service to all Team Members with payroll related enquires or requests in a timely manner.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, development and mentoring to the payroll team to ensure best practice.
  • Other ad-hoc duties

Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with Chris 21/iChris payroll system preferred.
  • Experience with TimeTEQ or Dayforce (currently being implemented) Time and Attendance systems preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years’ minimum experience in a similar role or payroll team leader role managing a payroll team, processing a large volume payroll and preferably in retail or large multi-site environment.
  • Strong experience in interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements, Awards and legislation.
  • A track record and identifying process improvements and implementing effective and efficiency changes using your strong systems experience.
  • Highly organised and results driven.
  • Team player that leads by example.
  • Strong attention to detail & high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to adapt in changing environment.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • High level of customer service standards.
