The Opportunity

The Monash Addiction Research Centre is seeking to appoint a dedicated and passionate Research Fellow who will contribute to the “Alcohol consumption practices in crisis” project, a three year project (funded by the Australian Research Council) involving an interdisciplinary team of social science researchers. Using qualitative methods, this project aims to investigate how meanings and practices of alcohol consumption in Australia are impacted by the global novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The project also has a particular focus on exploring the role of gender, social media and technology in any shifts in alcohol consumption practices arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Research Fellow will lead and contribute to obtaining ethics approval, recruitment of participants, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation and other dissemination activities related to the project. The Research Fellow will also be encouraged to develop their own track record and interests related to the project and be involved in other related research projects and in contributing to the Monash Masters of Addictive Behaviours course.

Ideally, we are seeking an early career researcher with a doctoral qualification in sociology, anthropology, gender studies, science and technology studies, public health or a closely related discipline and relevant work experience.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. This position at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.

Monash University seeks applicants for this opportunity who are able to demonstrate and present valid and current Australian work rights.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to "How to apply for Monash Jobs".
