Our client is a leading Renewable Energy Developer with a large and varied portfolio of projects across the east coast of Australia. Due to ongoing and substantial investment within its portfolio, an experienced internal Legal Counsel is required to help with the ongoing management of their highly varied renewable energy portfolio.

The Role

Legal Counsel role is to provide in house legal assistance to the Company as well as to ensure that the Company’s corporate governance functions are managed effectively.

The position covers a wide range of functions as outlined below:

Legal Counsel
  • - Drafting, amending and advising on a variety of legal documents;
  • - Negotiating the terms and conditions of various contracts which may include land, construction, grid, PPA, sales/purchase, finance or any other relevant documentation;
  • - Drafting corporate authorisations/company documents;
  • - Engaging and managing external legal counsel;
  • - Assisting with contracts administration and advising the internal Contracts Administrator and Construction/Asset Manager on contractual analysis;
Company Secretarial
  • - Maintaining proper corporate records;
  • - Filing of documents with relevant authorities, such as ASIC;
  • - Liaising with lawyers, auditors, accountants and company directors;
  • - Being involved in risk management and corporate responsibility matters.
Risk Officer
  • - Development, implementation, communication and maintenance of compliance policies, processes and procedures;
  • - Draft and revise company policies;
  • - Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses;
  • - Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals.
The Candidate
  • - Legal qualification
  • - Enthusiastic, positive attitude, willingness to learn and someone who is resilient
  • - Excellent academics
  • - Top tier/mid tier law firm experience
  • - 2-4 years’ experience in a similar or equivalent role;
  • - Will consider general corporate & commercial, property, infrastructure, project finance or M&A backgrounds.
  • - Experience in the renewable energy/infrastructure space is strongly desired.
