Purpose Of The Role

The Project Engineer acts within the country of origin and within the boundaries of the Alliance Contract and under the guidance of the Technical Director’s authority to deliver the objectives to the customer and to deliver the targeted margin to Bombardier. To this effect, the Project Engineer assists the Technical Director in leading the Engineering Teams in Bangkok in the successful completion of their assigned tasks within schedule, allocated budgets and scope to the required quality.

Internal Interfaces: (Mandatory but not limited to) Alliance Board, Project Core Team, Work Package Leaders, Line Team Leader.

Alliance Interfaces: (Mandatory but not limited to) End Users, Consultant (if existing), Supplier, Sub contractor, Operator, Independent assessor

Key Responsibilities Will Include The Following

  • Communication of the software release strategy within Bangkok and back to the Melbourne team (Signalling Engineering Manager, Signalling Project Engineer and Signalling Leads)
  • Understanding the technical interfaces between the software packages and resolving issues
  • Reporting of issues to the Signalling Project Manager (Melbourne)
  • Responsible for first line of disposition of NCRs from System Test alongside the Signalling project Engineer (Melbourne) (understanding and allocation)
  • Work with Systems Integration team to identify controls to Systems Integration NCRs. (SRACs etc….)
  • Review of technical documentation produced by the software teams in various locations
  • Design packages
  • Requirements Specifications
  • S/w Release (release notes)

Expected Communication Lines (Melbourne and Pittsburgh)
  • Signalling Project Engineer (Melbourne) – daily communication
  • Leads in Melbourne (Onboard, ATS, CBTC) – weekly communication
  • PMs in Pittsburgh – CBTC (Venu) and ATS (Nabeel) – weekly communication

It is required you will have the following qualifications, experience, and personal characteristics:
  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline.
  • Post graduate or master’s qualification well regarded
  • Minimum 7 years overall experience with minimum 5 years combined CBTC Experience, ATS Experience, Conventional Signalling Expertise required.
  • Previous experienced in managing large team, representing organization at senior levels with customers and partners.
  • A degree of understanding of how alliance’s work – previous experience within an alliance.
  • Previous experience leading a multi discipline project team.
  • Experience in risk and opportunity management
  • Experience in issue management, people management.
  • Some exposure to commercial management
