The opportunity

The primary purpose of the role is to provide leadership across key business critical functions in the Branch, ensuring a close integration across planning, finance, procurement, project management, reporting and specialist supporting services. The role enables the effective and efficient delivery of Strategic Transport Planning programs and projects to support the NSW government’s vision and priorities and ensure alignment with Future Transport 2056 and 10 Year Blueprint objectives.

You will be involved in:

  • Motivate, encourage and inspire the development of a strong, effective, efficient, ethical, engaged and professional Program Management Office team with a clear focus on the delivery of planned outcomes and the continual development of the capabilities and capacities of the individual members of the team.
  • Lead and facilitate the branch business planning to ensure the best alignment with corporate strategies and initiatives.
  • Lead and provide expertise on the development of frameworks, processes, guidelines and tools which ensure the highest standards for the effective and transparent provision of critical business functions .
  • Lead, set and monitor strategies which drive the monitoring, reporting and analysis of performance, setting standards and establishing deliverables across the Branch.
  • Provide leadership to the development and delivery of specialist graphic design and geospatial analytics services - working collaboratively in a matrixed model to support project teams, providing deep subject matter expertise while ensuring quality and consistency across projects.
  • Champion the Project Planning Framework across the branch and ensure the provision of expertise and advice to programs and projects within the branch.
  • Ensure the overall governance, management and compliance of the Branch.
  • Implementing changes to the ways of working across the branch, improving efficiencies in the delivery of programs and projects.
  • Ensuring strategic frameworks, guidance and tools that are developed to promote the highest levels of transparency and probity, while being accessible and effective in enabling stakeholders across the branch to efficiently deliver programs and projects.
  • Ensure transport planning projects across the branch are supported by specialist skills and services, in order to increase the effectiveness of the project teams and provide high quality planning outcomes.
  • Build a culture of matrixed, collaborative relationships within the team to ensure that specialist teams are responsive to project requirements.

About You

This role reports to the Chief Transport Planner and will have 5 direct reports.

This position manages an opex and capex budget that will fluctuate depending on priorities.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated extensive experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working across transport planning and project development
