Description

At AWS we are driving a number of developer-focused initiatives across the region, to help developers in our customer accounts and in the broader developer community understand how to use modern application development techniques to deliver business value.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Program/Engagements Manager (TPM) who will collaborate with the AWS Developer Acceleration (DevAx) team to identify opportunities, plan implementation and engagement models, drive delivery and communicate the results. The successful candidate will be experienced in managing complex, multi-workstream, multi-stakeholder engagements in a fast-paced environment. They will have worked as a program/project manager with a technical background, know when to flag potential issues before they become problems, and have experience integrating the efforts of diverse stakeholder groups through exceptional communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding project management skills, excellent verbal and visual communication, and will have previously worked with developers, understanding their unique needs while driving outcomes in developer programs. You will take end-to-end ownership of multiple enablement/engagement projects within a single enterprise or across several enterprises, utilizing your communication skills to interface with and influence a range of multi-disciplinary teams (sales, solutions architecture, professional services, training & certification, and partners). The Technical Program/Engagements Manager (TPM) role is responsible for driving application modernization and developer enablement projects and is a single-threaded owner responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of these projects. You will collaborate with the technical program owners to provide robust structure, ensure consistency and functional excellence, and deliver engagement projects related to developer enablement, service adoption, industry trends and the overall developer landscape. You will work closely with the DevAx program leads and PMO to help shape future engagement models.

To be successful, you will be customer obsessed and have experience working on regionally-scoped cross-functional initiatives. You will be energised by highly collaborative, creative, analytical, and fast-paced environments, and be comfortable interacting with highly technical solutions architects and developers as well as community-focused teams. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills while working in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment. You will have broad experience in industry standard project/program management methodologies with a passion to innovate and iterate quickly. You will bring demonstrated experience with leadership responsibility of programs for technical resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, initiate and drive the delivery of developer engagement projects in customer accounts
  • Contribute to developer engagement strategy and planning, incl. definition of key milestones and scoping of critical deliverables, program strategy and key performance indicators
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to gather requirements and feedback, define objectives & deliver results
  • Present and lead conversations regarding projects, issues, solutions, and strategy to leadership and stakeholders
  • Ensure alignment between DevAx team members, other AWS teams, customers and partners engaged on enablement projects
  • Drive progression of developer engagements against timelines, escalate timely and appropriately within AWS, partner, and customer organizations
  • Own creation of compelling customer proposals, integrating content from AWS teams, customers and partners
  • Own repository of developer engagement artefacts and IP
  • Capture learnings from developer engagements and build repeatable IP and mechanisms
  • Communicate learnings within AWS, and orchestrate field enablement initiatives
  • Work with DevAx PMO to track delivery of developer engagement projects aligned to team goals against plan

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in project/program management, sales/business development, or other related fields
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Track record of scoping, managing and delivering fast paced, complex engagements
  • Program management skills with experience in influencing others outside of direct line of reporting, and advocating on behalf of the customer
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively and deliver results across cross-functional, remote and virtual teams
  • An exceptional sense of ownership, drive, and scrappiness is a must
  • Must be comfortable in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and able to manage priorities well
  • Ability to exercise high judgment, particularly in narrow timeframes
  • An agile, flexible individual with a “can-do” approach to managing ambiguity and a highly iterative creative process
Preferred Qualifications
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with local and global teams
  • Experience in building trust with internal technical audiences such as customer facing technical resources
  • Highly analytical, technically proficient, and able to learn new tools and software quickly
  • An Ability to travel ~ 20% time
  • Ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization
  • Cross-functional team experience/exposure
