Position Information

Parklea Public School is a large metropolitan school located in a high socio-economic part of North Western Sydney. Parklea has 42 teaching staff with a student enrolment of 718. Our school has four multi-categorical K-6 support classes. We consist of a culturally and linguistically diverse community with 55% of students coming from a language other than English background (LBOTE). The school has a strong working relationship with an enthusiastic P&C, consisting of parents, caregivers and the wider community. Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, behaviour difficulties, emotional disturbances and intellectual disabilities within a multi-categorical K-6 setting.
  2. Capacity to design, communicate and implement individualised education support plans that respond to the social, emotional, behavioural, and academic learning needs, with a focus on Literacy and Numeracy.
  3. Knowledge, understanding and demonstrated capacity to implement the Disability Discrimination Act, the Department’s Disability Standards for Education and Student Behaviour Strategy, with a strong focus on inclusive and wellbeing practices.
  4. Highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of collaborative team to build positive relationships and effectively communicate with students, staff, parents/caregivers, wider community and external agencies.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
