Position Summary:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Nurse Unit Manager with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our Emergency Department at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney offers a positive, person centred culture that delivers our organisational values and expert emergency care to our community.

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and committed leader capable of functioning with extended autonomy in the Emergency Department setting. The successful applicant will, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager be responsible for the daily operational management of the Emergency Department and will lead on a portfolio of work. You will be expected to balance a dynamic workload, delivering on agreed timeframes to support both the Emergency Department and organisational priorities.

This is an excellent opportunity for career progression and experience. The ED team will provide you the support and opportunity to develop vigorous, pertinent and sensitive nursing and management skills. Selection Criteria

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia 2.Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency & a recognised post graduate tertiary qualification in Emergency Nursing or Management (or willingness to undertake same within 12 months) or equivalent relevant experience deemed appropriate by SVHNS

3.Operational Experience of managing the Emergency Department across the 24 hour period

4.Demonstrated operational, financial, human resource, workplace health and safety and effective communication / interpersonal skills experience at departmental level

5.Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and current nursing issues

6.Ability to deliver, evidenced based, patient centred care within a complex environment

7.Demonstrated experience in quality improvement principles, clinical policy and procedure development and implementation

8.Computer literacy in MS Word/Excel, Email and an electronic medical record / referral system
