We are currently searching for Systems Engineers to join our team in Lane Cove West, Sydney. You will be mainly be working on Australian Defence projects in one or more of the following key technology domains; Communications, Joint Command & Control, Soldier Systems, Navigation or Simulation & Training.

Role Overview

Successful candidates must have experience performing in some or all phases of the engineering product development life cycle, including; planning and coordination, user needs analysis & requirements definition, architecture & design definition and analysis, system implementation, integration & test, configuration & documentation and system support definition. Candidates will be expected to perform multiple tasks as part of a larger development team and must be able to successfully collaborate with a multi-function team of experts in accomplishing tasks.

This is a 20 month contract position with possible transition to a full time permanent role. The position will report to the engineering manager at the Lane Cove West office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leading the systems engineering effort for various projects through the product or system lifecycle, including subsystem requirements analysis, definition, and validation; systems and systems level integration and requirements verification testing.
  • Effective technical collaboration among systems, hardware and software design functions, with a focus on assisting in resolving technical problems that cross functional domain areas of hardware and software.
  • The role may also involve significant effort supporting customers successfully achieve platform and system of systems integration outcomes.


and experience:
  • Experience with design and development of military systems/products to meet System Safety, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Deployability, Transportability, Human Factors, Security and Privacy requirements.
  • Prior experience with bid and pursuit work in a Australian government acquisition model
  • Familiar with environmental and EMI standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, DEF(AUST) 5168
  • Demonstrated proficiency in systems engineering, including in open systems architectures and secured cloud based technologies
  • A Bachelor of Engineering or Science, a System Engineering focused degree is preferable
  • Must be able to obtain an Australian Security Clearance. Australian Citizenship is required. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security screening and must meet eligibility requirements
  • Ability to travel to support customer meetings in Australia
  • Familiarity with engineering development in an agile and DEVSECOPS environment
  • Formal training in systems engineering and configuration management.
  • Demonstrated experience as a the lead systems engineer throughout systems development process, including requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, and verification/validation, and transition to production
