About the Team

The Fleet Manager L400-2 is part of our growing In Service Support team and will be based out our MILVEHCOE facility in Redbank. Reporting to the In Service Support Manager, this role will manage a team of Field Service Representatives and also work closely with several teams including Maintenance, Project teams, finance and HSE.

About The Role

As the Fleet Manager L400-2 at Rheinmetall Defence Australia, you will be responsible for the provision of maintenance planning support and the management of Field Service Representatives (FSR’s) to support the BOXER CRV operations within the Australian Army. This role will be an integral part of the Service Support Team at RDA as you will be overseeing the management of the In-Service Support within the LAND 400Ph2 Program, ensuring the delivery of Maintenance Services to meet the agreed service levels.

As the Fleet Manager L400-2, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Management of maintenance and service support delivery;
  • Delivery and upkeep of In-Service Support contract deliverables in accordance with the L400-2 contract;
  • Vehicles status and overall maintenance status reporting;
  • Management of field service data and warranty processes;
  • Overseeing In-Service Support personnel as well as the In-Service Support budget;
  • Control Account Manager for Maintenance Support and Supply Support within L400-2
  • Act as the interface between RDA and other Rheinmetall entities overseas for “reach back” support;
  • Provide input into the annual, quarterly and monthly progress reports of L400-2;
  • Attend CoA project status and contract meetings;
  • Liaise with BU Customer Service Representatives;
  • Co-ordinate all RDA resource requirements in support of contract requirements;
  • Participate in RDA internal meetings associated with the In-Service Support Contract under L400-2;
  • Manage and monitor the performance of sub-contractor’s engaged by RDA to provide support to the ISS Contract;

The experience and skillset best suited to this role include:

  • Project management knowledge and proven experience in Service Delivery projects;
  • Defence or Defence industry employment background;
  • A strong decision maker with the ability to rapidly identify the core of issues, readily identify solutions to problems and meet agreed deadlines;
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent tasks which have competing demands, while understanding and managing priorities, dependencies and risk;
  • Proven ability to exercise judgement and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive matters;
  • Management level experience in personnel, budgets and resource;
  • Formal advanced writing skills across a range of writing types, e.g. PMPs, ILSPs, ISPs, tender responses, activity instructions, dot-point briefs, emails, letters and other forms of external correspondence addressed to government agencies or commercial entities;
  • Possess or be able to gain Australian Security Clearance to Negative Vetting 1 Level as a minimum.



  • Trade qualifications in an automotive field;
  • Technical expertise of military vehicle systems;
  • Experience in the introduction into Service and In-Service Support of Military Vehicle Systems.
