Associate, Investment Consulting, Mercer Investments

You will also have the opportunity to work across a broad range strategic investment consulting projects for a variety of other institutions including insurers, superannuation funds, and endowments and foundations.

We will count on you to:

Contribute to the development of best practices, new applications, and improvements to methods and analytical techniques, and enhancing and expanding Mercer’s intellectual capital:

  • Apply consulting skills, technical expertise, relevant methodologies and professional judgment to client projects
  • Demonstrate intellectual leadership and consistently test final deliverables for completeness, relevance, and high impact against client issues and needs
  • Plan, design, resource and manage client projects and direct staff in executing the plan to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Nurture key client relationships, identify opportunities to broaden or deepen these relationships in partnership with senior consultants, anticipate and respond to future client needs
  • Support business development initiatives and proposals
  • Develop own and other’s capability through informal and formal learning opportunities (may include formal people supervisor responsibility)
  • Participate in projects to improve Mercer, in particular talent, quality, service delivery, internal efficiency / effectiveness and intellectual capital
  • Pursue investment or actuarial professional qualification

What you need to have:

  • Relevant undergraduate qualification
  • Team player; we rarely work alone
  • Proactive and curious - ask questions, solve problems, persist to see change through
  • Depth of expertise in the Investments and Retail / Wealth Management service offerings
  • Experience in delivering and developing investment services in corporate and / or consulting contexts; typically 5-8 years
  • Strong technical base across investments and / or actuarial
  • Analytical skills and experience using spreadsheets and databases for information analysis
  • Strong report writing skills, PowerPoint and Excel capabilities
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience

  • Relevant post graduate and / or completed or working towards relevant professional qualification (CFA/ CIMA / FIAA / or similar)
  • Exposure to the wealth management industry with an understanding of their differing investment needs
