Marsh is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Barangaroo, Sydney office:

Principal – Risk Management

This role will manage a portfolio of large corporate clients in the Communications, Media & Technology team with the Sydney based Risk Management Practice. The role is focused on delivering premium quality customer service at all times and to participate in business development and strategic activities to grow an already successful portfolio. You will leverage your knowledge of general insurance in an inclusive and supportive team.

We will count on you to:

  • Assist management team with the preparation, management, implementation and achievement of team/unit business plans and goals
  • Meet and exceed service standards agreed in the client’s service agreement
  • Maximise team and account profitability through the implementation of efficient and effective work practices, adequate client billing and sensible expense control
  • Provide clear and accurate delegation of key tasks to Senior Account Executives / Account Executives
  • Consistently meet and exceed own and team revenue, expense and trading profit budgets;
  • Develop and maintain effective long term relationships with own and Account Executive's key client decision makers and frequently monitor political, management and other changes within client organisations to preserve and protect the Company's relationship at all times;
  • Possess and apply a thorough understanding of the client's business, risk management and insurance needs to ensure that our services and programs continue to meet with their needs and expectations
  • Lead, plan and implement clear and effective renewal and broking strategies, ensuring renewal performance meets client expectations
  • Ensure that all subordinates adhere strictly to the Company's compliance systems and procedures
  • Ensure all activities fully comply with the Company's Errors and Omissions policy

What you need to have:

  • An extensive experience within Insurance broking with exposure to general lines of insurance
  • A sound understanding of business and organisational risk management.
  • Exposure to large complex and/or multinational clients
  • Prior experience managing a portfolio of large to medium sized corporate clients in a range of industry sectors such as Communications, Media, Tertiary Education and Real Estate.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of all aspects of insurance
  • A strong understanding of insurance products and wordings
  • Prior experience conducting insurance gap analysis

  • A strong understanding of general insurance products and wordings, especially Property/Business Interruption and Liability.
  • A sound working knowledge of Financial & Professional lines policies such as D&O and Professional Indemnity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Strong managerial and project management skills
  • Tier 1 FSRA Compliance is essential and a tertiary qualification in Insurance Broking will be highly regarded but not essential
