Registered Nurse - Mental Health

The Newcastle Mental Health Service is a 22 bed Acute Inpatient Unit based at the Mater Mental Health Centre in Waratah. The service focuses on the delivery of quality person centred care that meets the needs of consumers and their families and carers. The provision of treatment and care that is collaborative and recovery focused and delivering effective care that empowers consumers to become resilient, independent and to self- manage their illness and recovery is the primary purpose of the service. The skilled, multidisciplinary team works within the Excellence framework and is dedicated to upholding the CORE values of HNELHD. 

As a Registered Nurse within the Newcastle Mental Health Service, you will provide a holistic view of health which includes the provision of culturally responsive, safe, compassionate person centred care. Care is delivered in collaboration with patients, families, carers and the multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes by working alongside Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people. Support and encouragement to extend your skills via education, professional development and change management is valued within the team.

The successful candidate will possess effective communication and time management skills with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. You will utilise your professional expertise and work within your scope of practice to work with consumers to achieve their goals and outcomes in a high performing team environment. 

An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies. 

To be eligible for employment in these roles you must be: an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or a citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia. 

If you currently hold a temporary visa that allows you to live and work in Australia you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
