An exciting opportunity to join South Eastern Sydney Local Health District!
The South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) are now recruiting to Accredited Immuniser Registered Nurse positions for COVID-19 Vaccination Program. These positions will be based primarily at St George Hospital, however there may be opportunity to work at other sites across SESLHD within pop up clinics in line with the ongoing roll out of the vaccination program. Full Time and Part Time positions are available, with the minimum contract being 2 days per week (0.42FTE). These positions will be part of a 6 day rotating roster of both morning and afternoon shifts. Pending potential expansion of the clinic opening times, this may be extended across 7 days.

These position are temporary until 19 December 2021 with the possibility of extension.

Your new role:

The COVID-19 Vaccination Program is responsible for the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccination to individuals/groups as identified within the national rollout strategy. The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care including immunisation and education to clients presenting for COVID-19 vaccination consistent with SESLHD policies, procedures and standards. The COVID-19 Vaccination Program will work out of a primary HUB location, however roaming Spoke Clinic’s will also be established across SESLHD as per demand.

In addition to holding an Authorised Nurse Immuniser certificate as recognised by NSW Health the Australian Government Department of Health has directed that all COVID-19 Immunisers complete the following additional training prior to commencement,

  • Modules 1-6
  • Additional Module 1: Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine
  • Additional Module 2: AstraZenaca vaccine

The successful applicant must also be compliant with Category A - Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases PD2020_017 (refer to Appendix 4 Checklist: Evidence required from Category A Applicants) https://www1.health.nsw.gov.au/pds/ActivePDSDocuments/PD2020_017.pdf

Our Local Health District:

SESLHD is one of the largest local health districts in Sydney, covering a geographical area of 468 square kilometres from Sydney’s central business district to the Royal National Park. We proudly deliver health care to around 930,000 residents across the local government areas of Woollahra, Waverley, Randwick, Bayside, Kogarah, Hurstville and Sutherland Shire. We also provide a key role in helping residents of Lord Howe and Norfolk islands.
 
We manage nine hospitals including:

  • Royal Hospital for Women (Randwick)
  • Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital (Macquarie Street)

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, and current Drivers Licence and willingness to utilise as required for the position
  2. Authorised Nurse Immuniser as recognised by NSW Health
  3. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  4. Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  6. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  7. Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles.
  8. Demonstrated recent post registration experience in performing immunisation.
