ABOUT THE ROLE

The Database Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day management of database configuration, performance, integrity and security across the organisation. This role ensures changes are addressed in accordance with the needs of customers, and that expertise advise is provided for the use of database technologies.

ABOUT YOU

In a similar role, you have experience managing multiple large database systems and have maintained them to deliver a high level of performance and reliability. As part of database administration you have detailed experience in implementing security best practices, you can troubleshoot and resolve performance related problems, implement new configurations to deliver a high level of reliability and you take steps to ensure the long-term integrity of the organisation’s data.

Your strong communication skills and approachable personality allow you to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams during planned and unplanned outages, upgrades and installations. You enjoy supporting your team and actively contribute to a shared sense of direction while implementing effective technical and procedural improvements. You have a holistic view of the technical needs of your customers and can prioritise competing workload and complex database issues with project support.

Crucially, you are someone who shares the TAFE NSW Values of Integrity, Collaboration, Excellence and Customer First.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Degree qualifications in related field or equivalent experience.

  2. Experience in implementing and supporting database services and infrastructure in a complex environment.

  3. Demonstrated database design and development skills.

  4. Ability to address and meet focus capabilities as stated in the position description.

HIGHLY REGARDED

  • Hands-on experience across contemporary database platforms including Oracle, Microsoft SQL and/or MySQL/Maria DB.

  • Proven ability to maintain databases in a highly available model.

  • Experience supporting large databases that underpin business critical web and desktop applications.

WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE

This position offers a base salary range of $99,713 - $107,381 p.a plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
