Position Summary:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Nursing Unit Manager with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team.

Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for all our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality, patient centered care The successful applicant will be responsible for the clinical leadership, operational and nursing management of the Intensive Care Unit in the Cardiothoracic/Transplant specialty and will work in conjunction with the Multi-disciplinary team to ensure continuation of the safe, quality service provision to our patients.

This position entails working 8hr shifts on weekday morning/day shifts and evening shifts. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with the ICU NUM for General Neuro Trauma specialty and will be required to work across the entire Intensive Care Service operationally. This position reports to the ICU Nurse Manager.

Selection Criteria

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries

2. Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency
3. Recognised post graduate tertiary qualification in Intensive Care or management (or willingness to undertake same within 12 months) or equivalent relevant experience
4. Demonstrated operational, financial, human resource, workplace health and safety skills and well developed communication / interpersonal skills experience at departmental level
5. Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of clinical governance and current nursing issues
6. Ability to promote, evidenced based, patient centred care within a complex environment
7. Computer literacy in MS Word/Excel, Email and an electronic medical record / referral system
8. Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice
