The Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute (EMAI) is a world renowned, premier biosecurity facility located at Menangle in Sydney’s south west. Research and diagnostic work conducted at EMAI enhances food and fibre production and helps protect the environment. In your new role as Senior Maintenance Manger-EMAI you will:

  • Manage the Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute (EMAI) facilities management function including initiation of systems maintenance programs, preparing and implementing site maintenance and building refurbishment programs, including grounds maintenance.
  • Lead a group of internal and external contracted professional maintenance personnel to effectively maintain the EMAI Facility to the required levels for ongoing external accreditation by implementing and managing facility management operating systems to ensure continued reliable operation.

What we are looking for:

Our preferred candidate will be capable of communicating effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders including senior Departmental management, research management, contractors and maintenance staff and responding to any requests in a timely fashion.

In addition, the successful candidate will have:

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of WHS legislation.
  • Understanding of the needs of research.
  • The position holder requires, as a minimum, a trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, building and/or HVAC. Post trade qualifications (e.g. Diploma or Degree) are desirable.
  • Experience in construction and/or maintenance of complex facilities such as biocontainment facilities, healthcare, pharmaceutical or hospitality sectors.
  • Knowledge of Government/Departmental requirements with respect to Total Asset Management Policy and relevant council, building codes and Australian Standards, Bio-containment, AQIS, NATA, and ISO certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NSW Government Procurement Systems and experience in tendering, development and management of Service Contract Agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience in development of strategic or systematic building management systems.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computerised building management systems relevant to complex biocontainment facilities.
