Job Description
-The Metallurgical Coal (MetCoal) Analytics Centre, referred to as the “MAC”, is a new centralised hub at the Brisbane Corporate Office, which will support MetCoal Australia operations by providing insights backed by data science and functional experts.
We are seeking a Data Analyst to join the team to gather data from various sources and review and interpret it using data analysis tools, such as Power BI, to provide meaningful information and insights to help our Operations make better-informed decisions.
You will primarily work with our Longwall Operations area and become the expert in Longwall Mining data analysis and reporting, working closely with our UG Operations Mining Specialist. Ensuring our longwall mining operations is safe, stable and capable is of utmost importance, and the data and analysis you provide assists Operations make better decisions, leading to improved operational outcomes. You will be supporting adhoc operational requests according to prioritisation, however you will also work on other exciting projects with our Data Scientists and other Mining Specialists in solving challenges across other areas of our Operations.

Our Longwall Operations are open 24/7. Whilst this job is primarily Monday to Friday business hours, there is after hours on call support required for high priority incidents.

Qualifications
-To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in IT, Statistics, Maths, Data Science (or working towards completion)
  • Knowledge of SQL, P/SQL, databases, integration, master data management, quality assurance, data wrangling, and data governance technologies.
  • Strong Power BI data modelling, dashboard development and visualisation.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana
  • Python development experience desired, but not essential
