JOB DESCRIPTION

We have an exciting part-time position for an experienced and process driven Payroll Specialist to apply their existing knowledge and skills and join our close and collaborative team at Daimler Truck and Bus. Based at the Head Office in Mulgrave, you will work with the HR team and our external payroll provider to ensure payroll runs smoothly and in a timely manner, supporting a small newly formed payroll function within HR with Payroll reporting and administration.

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, your responsibilities will include:

  • Expat payroll and end of month processing
  • Maintenance of payroll system and leave planning system
  • Updating and maintaining payroll records
  • Liaising with staff and management on payroll related queries
  • Maintaining leave, sickness and overtime reports
  • Payroll reporting to meet internal and statutory obligations
  • Payroll administration
  • Calculation and processing of termination payments/ redundancy payments
  • Processing increases and calculation of back pays
  • Assisting the HR Team in payroll queries
  • Month end consolidation
  • Reconciliation and payment of payroll and group tax
  • Reconciling payroll related GL accounts
  • Ad-hoc month end activities


To be the successful candidate, you will be a collaborative, detail oriented and driven Payroll Specialist who has experience in payroll reporting and journaling, and possess strong knowledgeable in payroll legislation in order to be a back up for our end to end Payrol Specialist. You will be a strong communicator (verbal and written), and enjoy and thrive working in a fast-paced dynamic environment and have excellent numeracy skills. Naturally, you will love working with people and you will have demonstrated customer service and problem solving skills. You will have the ability to work autonomously whilst having the ability to bring people together when collaboration is required. You will be highly organised and have the ability to juggle multiple and often conflicting priorities. Most of all you will be a customer centric individual with strong interpersonal skills who has the ability to manage your time well and work towards deadlines. 


You will be proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly with excel. Experience interpreting awards and legislation, and any tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a business discipline would be highly regarded. Previous experience in a similar role within a large and complex organisation is essential. This position is a 3 days per week part-time role with some flexibility on the days worked, keeping in mind the need to support the team at critical times, particularly at month end.
