With a history dating back to the First World War, 13 Brigade is the major land force of the Australian Army in Western Australia. Today, it is an Army Reserve brigade providing a range of services to the Western Australian community during times of crisis and contributing to the Australian Army’s operational capability. The Brigade is responsible for recruiting, training, and sustaining a Reserve Response Force and a High Readiness Reserve Combat Team, capable of deployment at short notice with Regular Army Units or in support of civilian agencies. 13 Brigade is part of the 2nd Division, Forces Command and is headquartered at Irwin Barracks.

The work experience program will provide participants with a board insight into the wide range of Army trades and associated career options with the Australian Army Reserve. Students will be involved in demonstrations, presentations, and practical activities hosted by a range of 13 Brigade units.

Activities may include team building exercises, visits to Army simulators, an exposure to Army trades, and demonstrations of vehicles and equipment specific to various units.

Students will have the opportunity to speak with Army personnel from a range of areas to gain information about their roles, careers, and experiences in Defence
