The new State Secondary College at Yarrabilba is expanding their leadership team in preparation for enrolment growth in 2022. The school is seeking candidates who have strong relational leadership and engagement skills to develop partnerships that are critical to the success of the College. As this is the first high school to be built in the rapidly growing Yarrabilba community, candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to building partnerships in the local community.

Start dates are to be negotiated with the successful applicant, to ideally commence in Term 3 (negotiated with each individual candidate). The Deputy Principal will have accountability for line management of curriculum leaders and Year Levels as well as cross/extra-curricular activities and whole school strategic and/or operational responsibilities. Any experience in these areas should be clearly articulated in your application.

Your Role

The Deputy Principal will be an agile leader with a record of success in providing quality learning outcomes for all students and leading school improvement. As an instructional leader, the Deputy Principal will be focused on developing middle management teams who are instructional leaders, problem-solvers with decision-making agility and risk-taking skills who can lead their own teams with confidence and resilience.

The successful candidate at Yarrabilba State Secondary College will work with Heads of Department and teachers in flexible learning environments designed to stimulate the imagination, encourage integration and collaboration and inspire experiential learning. Learning spaces will be flexible and movable and have been designed to create multi-modal learning with quick and easy conversion through the use of operable walls, moveable furniture and fit outs. The Deputy Principal at Yarrabilba State Secondary College will need to “think outside the box” to design curriculum structures and learning experiences for students that meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum and encourage deep learning, critical and creative thinking and problem-based learning. (The work of Lyn Sharratt and Michael Fullan forms a strong foundation for the College's Teaching and Learning Frameworks. Positive Education is the basis of the College Wellbeing Framework and informs the development of the College's leadership, teaching, learning and well-being culture.)
