The Division

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

The Opportunity

We currently have a permanent full-time Bridge Engineer opportunity that reaches from Waterfall to Victoria border along the Princes Highway and from Campbelltown to Yass along the Hume Highway. The engineer will be a part of an innovative team that delivers for our regional customers and communities.

The role will assist the engineering team in developing and delivering bridge maintenance programs of work, including monitoring and reporting project progress to ensure the bridge remains operational for the road users in line with safe, environmental, quality and cost’ requirement of TfNSW.

These opportunities are based within the Network and Assets branch and within Bridges Facilities unit.

This position would suit recent graduates or engineers with up to 5 years Australian industry experience. Previous experience in construction/maintenance of Bridges is highly desirable but not essential.

Some of the key accountabilitie s will include:

  • Manage the project and delivery process including the delivery of both direct control and contract works to ensure nominated bridge maintenance projects are developed and delivered to agreed time, cost, and quality and scope requirements.
  • Manage the investigation and design process by developing project briefs and cost estimates, and monitoring and reviewing ongoing work programs to make effective use of resources and deliver agreed objectives
  • Use your knowledge of the technical aspects of materials, equipment and techniques used in bridge infrastructure, construction and maintenance to develop projects.
  • Prepare contract documents for bridge projects, including technical specifications to engage, administer and deliver contract works and ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Analyse and interpret asset condition data and other relevant information to develop the current and forward year works programs. Monitor and report on project progress

About You

The successful applicant requirements:
  • A four-year civil/structural engineering degree from an Australian University or equivalent overseas qualifications.
  • Current full Australian Drivers Licence is essential
  • Knowledge or experience in the technical aspects of materials, equipment and techniques used in bridge and/ or wharf maintenance and construction.
  • Ability in the analysis of information, interpretation of plans, estimating and budgeting.
  • Bridge Information System (BIS) experience would be highly desirable
  • Prepared to travel and work outside normal working hours (overnight)
  • Motivated, willing to learn, adaptable to changing environments
  • Safety conscious and possesses good communication skills, both oral and written
