About This Position

The position works within a professional team responsible for the enforcement of regulations and by-laws in the areas of animal control, fire abatement, nuisances, parking and the non-technical conditions of development and building approvals.

To be successful, you will need to have sound negotiation skills and the ability to interpret and apply legislation, by-laws, and regulations. You will also have an aptitude and confidence to deal with animals, predominantly dogs, and be available for after hours and weekend rostered work. Previous experience in a regulatory or compliance environment would be well regarded.

Mandatory Requirements

To be considered for these roles, you must address the following selection criteria in your application

Essential

  • The ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, by-laws, regulations in a regulatory environment.
  • Strong negotiation and customer service skills and the ability to competently deal with difficult situations.
  • An aptitude and confidence to deal with animals, predominantly dogs.An understanding of investigative processes and principles within a government environment.
  • Proficient literacy and communication skills, including the preparation of brief of evidence, reports and correspondence.
  • Proficient computer and keyboard skills utilising Microsoft Office products.
  • Sound understanding of risk management and safety issues, and ‘duty of care’ concepts.
  • Possession and maintenance of a current manual driver’s licence.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a regulatory or compliance environment.
  • Relevant qualification relating to government investigations.
