JOB DESCRIPTION

This is the perfect opportunity for someone who has either recently graduated from a supply chain/logistics degree or possesses 1-2 years of relevant experience. Either way, the ideal candidate will be ready to understand the logistics and supply chain of a large multi-national manufacturer and moreover, excited to obtain incredible exposure as to how a global business operates.

This role has plenty of variety as you join the Mercedes-Benz Australia Head Office Team that collectively manages our impressive 30,000 square metre Logistics Centre located in Laverton North, Melbourne where the role is predominantly based.

By joining this team, you will learn all aspects of the operations including warehousing, transportation and supplier management and will be assigned the responsibility of operations support to key stakeholders and customers, as the Logistics Centre services the national network of all Mercedes-Benz/Daimler divisions including Passenger Cars, Vans, Trucks and Buses.

The role is made up of two halves.

  • Firstly, a key function is your day-to-day interactions with various internal and external contacts, working closely with our third party logistics (3PL) suppliers, inventory management and customer service teams on any supply chain topics that arise.
  • Secondly, we require someone excited to apply their analytical, project management and continuous improvement skills to a wide range of logistics and supply chain projects.

Given the incredible enormity of the Logistics Centre’s operations, you will be required to:

  • Provide the necessary support to internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to ensure customer expectations and internal targets are met;
  • Display customer-orientation in ensuring that all enquiries via the internal and external customer support phone line and email inbox are addressed in a timely manner;
  • Be driven to win in supporting 3PL providers to meet their contractual requirements, key performance indicators and service levels;
  • Create and analyse daily, weekly and monthly reports in order to display a pioneering spirit in highlighting areas for improvements and furthermore, manage initiatives to implement these improvements
  • Have the ability to pinpoint continuous improvement opportunities via thorough root cause analysis and implement change to address these in a fast paced operation

You will be a recent supply chain graduate (or relevant discipline) or have some level of practical experience. You’ll be a team player, organized, friendly, have a relationship styled approach to customer service with a can-do attitude. You must have strong analytics reasoning, be solutions orientated and have excellent communication skills. There is a large element of data entry and focus on numbers, so you must have strong attention to detail, be able to manage your own workload and be a strong problem solver and multi-tasker.
