Anatomical Pathology Registrar Position: Anatomical Pathology Registrar Institution: Territory Pathology, Royal Darwin Hospital Location: Darwin, NT Application Closing Date: 3 weeks Anatomical Pathology Registrar second half 2021 with possible extension to 2022 An opportunity has arisen for a position as an anatomical pathology registrar at Royal Darwin Hospital commencing mid 2021. This position is accredited for RCPA AP training for up to 2 years. A generous salary, relocation and accommodation assistance will be available to successful applicants. You will be joining 4 Anatomical Pathologists and other trainees, in a unique tropical setting. The Royal Darwin Hospital campus in Darwin is the tertiary referral centre for patients in the Northern Territory. Duties will include: 1. Perform surgical cut up as per the RCPA protocols and as per instruction from the consultant. 2. Attend and perform intra-operative frozen section examinations. 3. Attend and present at Departmental Quality Assurance meetings and other Clinico-pathological meetings as directed. 4. Actively participate in the teaching sessions organised by the consultants for Registrar teaching to prepare for RCPA examinations. 5. Undertake the role of Pathology tutor to Year1 and 2 medical students of Flinders University. Qualifications/other Requirements Essentials 1. Fully registered Medical Practitioner with Australian Medical Board. 2. At least 2 year full time clinical posts following graduation from MBBS program. 3. Prior experience in Pathology and a successful result in Basic Pathological Science examination is desirable, but not essential. 4. Good communication skills with patients, peers, colleagues and Laboratory staff. 5. Knowledge of quality improvement in medical practice. 6. Knowledge of OH&S issues and Workplace Diversity Practices. 7. Knowledge of ethics of medical practice. 8. Demonstrated ability to consistently display commitment and leadership in high quality customer service principles. 9. Demonstrated ability to pursue both formal education programs and self-education.
