Our client seeks an experienced Finance Officer to provide professional and effective financial and accounting services.

Your Exciting, New Role

In this role, you will assist in the delivery of effective and professional financial and management accounting services. You will also be responsible for providing analytical and business advice and support in the area of budgeting, financial management reporting and analysis, funding, forecasting, financial compliance and statutory financial reporting.

The Skills You Bring

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. You will need to able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the following:
Demonstrated skills and knowledge of financial accounting activities, monitoring and reporting and utilising financial systems and other reporting packages including Microsoft Excel. Including demonstrated experience in contributing to the preparation of annual financial statements.
Demonstrated skills and knowledge in developing robust financial budgets within a complex organisation while ensuring an appropriate level of consultation with cost centre management is performed to ensure accountabilities are agreed and understood.
Assist in preparing monthly management reporting package highlighting trends for cost centre managers.
Maintain accurate financial records and controls for all functions performed ensuring all processes comply with Financial Management Standards and internal and external audit requirements.
Provide expert financial advice and support/training to cost centre managers and executive with the interpretation of financial reports through detailed analysis of financials.
Production of timely and accurate management reports and financial information to meet reporting requirements by assisting in the preparation of the statutory reporting requirements including; the Monthly Internal Finance Report, the Annual Financial Statements, Financial and Residential Activity Collection and the annual FBT Return.
Assist with the end of month process including; the reconciliation, redistribution and accrual of inter entity invoices and the journal upload process ensuring that an appropriate and compliant journal register is maintained.
Monitor and review registers and returns in compliance with the Financial Management Practices Manual.
General Ledger Management - monitor cost centres to ensure correct costings and coding is occurring and prepare adjusting journals.
Proven financial analytical skills with the ability to collate and analyse data using financial information systems, identify issues, assess options, and prepare reports that lead to improved utilisation of resources within defined time frames.
Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills together with interpersonal skills, including the ability to form productive working relationships across a range of stakeholders to resolve resource/financial issues.
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications required for this role, possession of a tertiary qualification in accountancy/commerce or business management is highly desirable; including the eligibility of the successful applicant for membership with an accredited professional body, such as CPA Australia.

The successful applicant must have a current “C” class License (proof of this must be provided before commencement).
