The Role

The Strategic Partnerships Manager is responsible for:
development of a clear and compelling partnership strategy that aligns to Suncorp Bank’s strategic objectives and provides the guardrails for existing and future partnership opportunities
identification, assessment, negotiation, implementation, go-to market strategy and operationalisation of profitable third-party partnerships that meet genuine customer needs

Key Responsibilities

Customer

Driven by customer insights and market analysis, proactively identify gaps in Suncorp Bank’s current and future product and service offerings that could be met through strategic partnerships
Work with relevant teams including Customer Insights and Marketing to build out the customer value proposition associated with the partnership opportunity
Measure the customer desirability of prospective and in-flight strategic partnerships, ensuring that there is a balance between desirability, viability and feasibility considerations
Ensure in-flight strategic partnerships are complementary to new and existing customer value propositions.
People
Guide, establish and maintain effective working relationships with Banking & Wealth leadership and Group teams including Strategy, Insights, Risk, Innovation and Corporate Development
Work closely with business units in the provision of frameworks and support to successfully identify, implement and embed strategic partnerships into the business.

Risk

Ensure all partnership arrangements are executed in accordance with Bank Risk Appetite
Ensure robust risk management practices are in place to protect our business, including NDAs, due diligence and active engagement with Risk, Compliance and Legal SMEs
Oversee the implementation of controls to appropriately mitigate risk throughout the lifecycle of the partnership

Profit and Financial

Own and grow partner propositions that meet threshold commercial parameters
Actively participate in commercial negotiations to ensure a mutually beneficial short and long-term outcomes for customers and shareholders. This includes engagement with Legal, Corporate Development and Product teams as required
Work closely with the relevant Finance representatives to develop partnership business cases supported by financial modelling
Manage the profit and growth performance of each proposition within their portfolio through clearly defined metrics and KPIs
Ensure the operating model is in place to manage the partnership on an ongoing basis, including proactive relationship management, and remediation or termination where targets are not met

Key Job Requirements

Qualifications (indicate whether mandatory or desired)

Tertiary education in a business or commerce related degree desired.

Experience (minimum type and level of experience required to perform the role)

Minimum of 5 years’ appropriate financial industry experience (mandatory)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in partnership-related roles (mandatory)
Previous experience in customer research, customer insights and Human Centred Design (desired)
Knowledge/experience in the application of Agile (desired)

Key Capabilities

Excellent interpersonal and people management skills, including ability to interact and influence people at all levels
Demonstrated ability to execute end-to-end strategic partnerships from identification and assessment through to implementation and monitoring
Demonstrated experience in commercial negotiations to ensure a mutually beneficial outcome with favourable long-term commercial terms for Suncorp
Excellent commercial acumen to be able to match opportunities to customer value propositions and develop supporting benefits cases
Experience in leading and facilitating design workshops and presentations
Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure
Strong commitment to teamwork and strong self-motivation mindset in parallel
Excellent written and verbal skills
Developed understanding of and developed ability to recognise business risk and opportunities impacting across diverse but related business areas
Developed ability to gather, analyse, and evaluate facts, summarise, prepare and present reports
Strong ability to work to deadline and manage multiple, potentially conflicting timeframes
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Sound knowledge of the principles, practices, theories and concepts relating to operational risk
Sound knowledge of compliance/reputational risk principles, practices, theories and concepts
