An exciting opportunity is available to join the Policy and Projects team at the Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA) as a Senior Education and Training Officer, working with the ANZPAA National Institute of Forensic Science (NIFS) to review education and training products in the various forensic science disciplines.

The Policy and Projects team sits within the ANZPAA Strategy Directorate and is responsible for the development, review and implementation of cross-jurisdictional policies, strategic documents, and education and training products relating to a range of contemporary policing issues. The role of the ANZPAA NIFS Directorate is to promote and facilitate excellence in forensic science. 

The Senior Education and Training Officer (Officer) is responsible for supporting the Assistant Director, Policy and Projects, in the successful achievement of the ANZPAA Strategy and Business Plan and to review a range of education and training products in support of the ANZPAA Board (Board) and Australia New Zealand Council for Police Professionalisation (ANZCoPP/the Council). While this position will report to the Assistant Director, Policy and Projects, they will be working with key stakeholders of ANZPAA NIFS in the progression of this work.

The position is responsible for the end-to-end review, approval and endorsement of vocational education and training Police Training Package qualifications for several forensic science disciplines and ANZPAA Education and Training Guidelines. The Officer will review the forensic qualifications and guidelines through facilitation of workshops and consultation meetings with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external to policing. The position is also responsible for preparing meeting papers, briefings, reports, presentations and managing the administration of these education and training products through agreed governance processes. 

The Officer will have a strong education and training background, demonstrate the ability to negotiate consensus among stakeholders, have excellent project management skills and be a critical thinker. They will also have a proven ability in facilitation and presentation skills. They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to build trusting relationships with stakeholders and team members alike. Successful applicants will demonstrate:

  • knowledge, understanding and previous experience of vocational education and training
  • the ability to build consensus
  • the ability to facilitate workshops to achieve outcomes.

A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly desirable.

Previous experience within forensics and or policing will be an added advantage.

The position is a full-time fixed term until 30 June 2022.
