Permanent, full-time opportunity


Driving collaborative strategic goal achievement and generating a sense of common purpose within the broader People & Culture Group will be fundamental to your role. Working in strategic partnership with the General Manager Culture and Employee Experience, your gift to think strategically but also deliver on tactical and operational outcomes will see you well placed in this hands-on role requiring a strong individual contributor to develop organisational capabilities in a high-volume setting.

About the role

Reporting into the Director of People and Culture, you will lead a large team of about 30 people through continual innovation whilst driving a people centric, performance and outcome focused team culture. Working with your leadership team, as well as the broader organisation, you will collaboratively build upon and execute the long-term vision for the People and Performance functions, consistently improving effectiveness and fostering strategic alignment and collaborative goal achievement. You will inspire and instill both strategic and creative thinking within your areas of influence, and provide expert advice to the Executive on operational people matters, risks, issues and workforce trends.

You will be a skilled and engaging coach, stretching and developing your team of specialist managers in relation to change management, collective impact and contemporary workforce planning methodology. Acting as a point of issue escalation, you will offer development, mentoring and technical leadership to continuously evolve, simplify and educate your leaders on best practice people initiatives, setting them up for success with internal and external stakeholders.

In partnership with the General Manager Culture and Employee Experience, you will champion the recruitment, retention and development of a committed and capable workforce through our established HR Business Partnering model, talent pipeline and team member journey strategy, optimising progressive workforce planning models to leverage contemporary HR metrics through data visualisation and analytics.

Together with your team of specialist managers, you will develop, implement, review and refine policies and procedures that ensure compliance with legislative requirements which promotes a safe, healthy and positive working environment.

Indicative Total Remuneration: $160,000 (plus significant salary sacrificing benefits + superannuation + vehicle or vehicle allowance).

About you

People already see you as a contemporary and innovative thinker, with the ability to lead with vision. You are a successful senior leader with proven experience driving a people and performance culture within a business of at least 1000 employees. You are energetic with excellent communication and negotiation skills and exhibit a strong Christ inspired, values-based leadership style. Your experience and strength lie in partnering with business leaders to provide them with innovative people and performance solutions and you are at the point in your career where you can achieve this through effectively coaching and mentoring your team of specialist managers.

Highly motivated and enthusiastic, with excellent people management and communication skills you have experience in a similar role, or at similar level, with a whole of business understanding, not just Human Resources management.Ideally you have experience working with Executive Leadership teams and board exposure as well as an understanding of the dynamics and drivers of for-purpose faith-based organisations. Your Christian faith will influence your competence to marry our vision, mission and values within the fabric of the disciplines you lead.

Your experience and qualifications should include:

  • Qualification in Organisational Psychology, Human Resources or relevant field, or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum five years of participation in a senior leadership and/or ministry role in a faith- based for-purpose organisation;
  • Demonstrated currency and understanding of the disciplines of Payroll, Employment Relations, HR Business Partnering and Health, Safety and Rehabilitation including the underpinning legislative framework
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles and values of the Christian faith and a willingness and ability to forward CofCQ's mission, values and strategic intent.
  • Exposure to end-to-end workforce planning and digital HR systems and technology.
