The Safety, Environment and Regulation division upholds safety and sustainability in our transport system. We’re working to deliver globally-recognised, safe, sustainable transport for our people, customers and the community.

Regulatory Operations Branch are responsible for ensuring safer people, safer vehicles, safer speeds and safer roads to protect Transport’s customers and NSW communities. This is achieved by:

  • Delivering and supporting risk-based, outcome focused road safety regulation and engage with industry and other stakeholders to enhance safety and compliance across the transport network.
  • Delivering efficient and effective regulation to ensure only fit and competent drivers and operators and compliant vehicles can use the transport network.
  • Collaborating with other government departments on a consistent, easy to navigate and digital approach to enhance customer experience.
  • Continuously improving and transforming regulatory and enforcement programs by analysing data and trends to improve safety, customer experience and community outcomes.

The opportunity

Right now, we have one permanent opportunity for a Project Support Officer in Regulatory Operations Branch with the Business Services Team and a Fixed Term opportunity (to Dec 2021) in the Camera Operations Team.

The permanent opportunity is for a Project Support Officer who is responsible for the provision of high-level project support services to ensure the efficient running of the Business Services Office which supports the Regulatory Operations Branch.

The role predominantly involves triaging and allocating all matters referred for attention of the Office of the Executive Director and the subsequent followup and review of material ensuring timely and accurate responses. Matters handled include correspondence, ministerial and parliamentary requests and a range of adhoc reporting requests. Incumbant will be required to liaise with a variety of stakeholders including branch staff and the Deputy Secretary and Secretary’s Offices to ensure suitable outcomes.

You will need strong attention to detail and have appropriate skills to draft,review and edit ministerial and parliamentary requests, ensuring that submissions are accurate, timely and have appropriate signoffs and contribute to the sound financial management for the branch, budgeting, reporting and control.

An appreciation of processes and systems related to the management of records is beneficial. You may also need to assist the team by providing a range of support services to both guide staff in ways of working and support program management delivery.

The Fixed Term opportunity for the Project Support Officer in Camera Operations requires knowledge and/or experience of camera enforcement programs, as you will be using a variety of systems used for these programs involving the analysis and validation of this information.

About you

For the Business Services role you will be extremely organised with an excellent eye for detail and communication skills both oral and written, who is proactive, with the ability to manage multiple tasks with constantly changing priorities.

You will be used to dealing with a range of stakeholder including the Deputy Secretary’s office ensuring that information is actioned and presented in a timely and appropriate manner, acting as the conduit between these and the various Directorates within the Branch.

Ideally you will have had experience in working with ministerial and parliamentary material and variety of systems and processes to ensure timely delivery of processes for Records Mangement, Finance, and rocurement ensuring adherence to corporate administrative policies and procedures.

As you will be supporting the Business Coordinator and working closely with other members of the Business Services team, particularly the Administration Assistant you will need to be a team player and capable of stepping in at anytime to undertake any administrative tasks required in the unit.

This is an exciting challenging role in a new team where you can use your full set of organisational, administrative and stakeholder management skills while providing a high level of support for all projects and tasks coming through the unit.

To be suitable for the Project Support Officer in the Camera Operations team you will have strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data feeding from the various camera systems to the unit. In this role your stakeholder engagement is limited to team members only.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Transport Grade 6 ($92,982 - $102,280) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
