The opportunity

Network and Assets branch at Transport for NSW is looking for a Fleet Asset Manager to join their team. In this newly created role you will be responsible for the leadership and effective management of road maintenance plant and fleet assets (mainly trucks). This will include detailed cycle management and optimization planning, development and coordination of the fleet maintenance needs and fleet renewal program to ensure risks are managed and to provide a sustainable level of service to the fleet users. You will

  • Oversee asset condition inspection and compliance inspections (Chain of Responsibility - CoR)
  • Maximise fleet standardisation, utilisation and performance levels
  • Be responsible for fleet development across our extensive fleet portfolio
  • Implement best practice management of TfNSW fleet assets
  • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders in the development of long term fleet asset management plan

The position will work closely with customers, end users and stakeholders to ensure that solutions are fit for purpose, safe and sustainable. This position will also lead the promotion of innovative technologies and solutions to ensure that Transport is a step ahead of the industry.

About you

We are looking for a talented asset management professional who is customer focused, demonstrates drive and commitment, effective communication, negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders in addition to a proven record of successfully leading teams.

To be successful in this role, you must hold a four-year Mechanical engineering degree or project management with relevant post trade experience. This should include experience in understanding the complexities of heavy vehicles, plant and trucks. Your ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, workshop manuals and hydraulic system diagrams will be imperative for this position. Experience in the development of significant funding submission is preferable.

You will have demonstrated experience in the development and introduction of new technologies, leading and implementing change programs to achieve continuous safety and cost improvements.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is USS11 ($142,300 - $151,837) - per annum plus superannuation
