Deliver clinical pharmacy expertise as a key member of a multidisciplinary team within the hospital, with the focus of promoting the safe and effective use of analgesia in keeping with the above concept of Pain Management. The Senior Pharmacist – Pain Management will integrate with the Acute Pain Service and lead interventions to reduce analgesia-related adverse events and incidents, while also providing inpatient review and outpatient follow-up to high-risk patients.

    About The Role
    • Provide and be individually accountable for the delivery of high-level Clinical Pharmacy services, including within the Acute Pain Service. This may extend to inpatients and outpatients outside of this service upon request and referral, and with minimal direct supervision.
    • Provide clinical advice and assistance to line management, relevant service managers and other members of the multidisciplinary team as required regarding the management of clinical work practices, service delivery, quality assurance, and the prioritisation and development of complex clinical services as they relate to analgesic use.
    • Actively contribute to the initiation, development, implementation, and monitoring of Pain Management activities, which may include improving clinical practices, developing protocols and guidelines, delivering education, and collection of key performance indicator data. Quality improvement activities should respond to trends in incident reports and other identified areas of concerns, and may take place within any work unit.
