What We’re About
Cire Services is a large community based, not for profit organisation servicing the Yarra Ranges and beyond. Cire provides a range of services to meet community need through life-long learning. We are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) providing accredited, pre-accredited, work skills and leisure courses. We also have a community school with three campuses, family and children’s services throughout the Yarra Ranges and two community hubs located in Chirnside Park and Yarra Junction.

Cire is a Child Safe organisation and prides itself on advocating for the rights of children and young people.

About the role
Cire Community School is a leader in delivering innovative programs to students from years 7 to 12 who have disengaged from education and offers an alternative to mainstream schooling. In 2021, we will also be introducing our first grade 5 and 6 group at our Yarra Junction Campus.

Our Learning Assistants create a positive and supportive learning environment for students of Cire Community School. This may involve assisting students with their individual learning needs and supporting these students to achieve progress against their learning objectives. Working as a team, Learning Assistants collaborate with students, teachers and wellbeing specialists to establish strategies that support self-regulation and promote active participation in learning. Your days will be varied, but always active and working with a purpose to support the overall wellbeing of Cire students.

Who Are You?

As an experienced Learning Assistant, you:
Hold qualifications in Education Support, Youth Work or an equivalent qualification
Are passionate about working with young people who struggle in mainstream education
Are skilled in working with students ranging from years 5 to 12
Have a thorough understanding of both the barriers to engagement in education and the ability to support young people to re-engage
Have the ability to form positive relationships with young people and maintain a safe learning environment
Have a thorough understanding of Child Safe frameworks and regulations
Hold a current Employee Working with Children Check or are willing to obtain one
