The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of Victorians into the future. We also lead the Victorian Government's response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Working with our partners, we oversee Victoria's health system including mental health, ageing and aged care and preventive health. The Project Director, Emergency Demand provides authoritative advice and expertise in relation to whole of system performance to manage emergency demand across Victoria. The program of work will be a critical intersection with other strategic projects focused on health system demand and capacity including systemwide patient flow and performance improvement.

The role will also be responsible for leading stakeholder engagement with key sector stakeholders including Ambulance Victoria and VHBA and within the Department of Health to monitor and guide the implementation of the initiatives, improve collaboration and share problem-solving approaches.
