Do you want to be part of a small and exceptional team at the Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency National Institute of Forensic Science (ANZPAA NIFS)? An excellent opportunity exists for a self-motivated individual with demonstrated project support experience and a passion for forensic science to take up a VPSG-5 full time fixed-term position until 30 June 2022.

About the role:

The National Institute of Forensic Science (NIFS) is a directorate within Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA). Our Strategic Intent is to promote and facilitate excellence in forensic science. Our work programs are designed to address priority needs and issues in forensic science. We engage with the forensic science community on issues that are cross-jurisdictional and cross-discipline in nature.

The principal role of the Senior Forensic Project Officer is to support the Director NIFS to deliver the ANZPAA NIFS Business Plan. The Senior Forensic Project Officer will also be responsible for managing projects, representing ANZPAA NIFS at national forums and facilitating or organising workshops and meetings. The Officer will also be responsible for assisting ANZPAA in delivering its Business Plan.

About you:

We are looking for a self-driven, passionate, and flexible individual who has strong interpersonal and communication skills.

You will have at least five years-experience in an operational forensic science service provider and have an interest in enhancing forensic science disciplines.

You will excel in working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment where no two days are the same. You need to be comfortable with multiple tasks, focused on quality results and responsive to stakeholder needs.

You will enjoy the challenge of contributing to an agile and responsive Agency culture, taking ownership for identifying improvements to processes and implementing new systems.

Responsibilities will include:

4 Manage projects and tasks, often under limited direction.

4 Make rational and sound decisions based on consideration of the facts and alternatives.

4 Report on the progress of project milestones and outcomes.

4 Assist Management in preparing and maintaining the exchange of information to stakeholders, including written and web-based methods.

4 Implement decisions and strategies as outlined by Management.

4 Assist in the organisation and development of workshops and meetings and represent ANZPAA NIFS at relevant national level meetings or workshops.

4 Manage information, data, and project reporting requirements to support the achievement of ANZPAA's strategic priorities.

4 Foster effective cross-jurisdictional co-operation and consensus.

Requirements and relevant information:

4 A relevant degree (for example Forensic Science or Science)

4 Demonstrated operational experience in delivering forensic science services to law enforcement.

4 Demonstrated ability to deliver project outcomes and products.

4 Be self-motivated, professional, and organised in performing tasks to achieve project goals
