JOB DESCRIPTION

The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of Victorians into the future. We also lead the Victorian Government's response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Working with our partners, we oversee Victoria's health system including mental health, ageing and aged care and preventive health. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, Workforce Safety and Wellbeing leads the design and delivery of a range of policy and program initiatives with a focus on strengthening the health workforce response across Victoria.

This includes identifying and implementing surge workforce models to meet new demands due to COVID-19 activities and increased activity within the health system, as well as occupational health and safety policies, and programs specific to general safety issues, fatigue management, occupational violence and aggression, and respiratory protections (fit-testing) to protect workers from COVID-19 infections.

Key functions of the position include leading high-profile collaborative research and problem solving across disciplines, peak bodies and organisations ensuring solutions are quickly implemented and consider system impacts. The unit is also responsible for supporting the department's COVID response through workforce specific input and communications and engagement with the health sector.

  • Expertise in working collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders across a range of settings including government, training organisations, peak bodies and health service delivery agencies?
  • A leader with a strong record of achievement in health sector improvement, project management and implementation?
