Student Midwife Program 2022

The Student Midwife position is an integral part of Bendigo Health workforce. In this service the role of the student midwife is to:

  • Provide safe and quality midwifery care (with the supervision of a midwife) in line with the Australian Nursing & Midwifery Council (ANMC) National Competency Standards for the Midwife, the Code of Ethics & the Code of Professional Conduct for nurses in Australia, and commensurate with level of clinical skills and experience.

  • Practice and promote continuous improvement, a culture of learning and evidence based practice whilst developing competence in midwifery practice.

  • Promote midwifery as a public health strategy that reflects culturally safe practice

Student Midwife Program 2022 x 4 positions available

  • 48 paid hours per fortnight plus 16 unpaid supervised clinical hours per fortnight = 64 hours per fortnight

  • Employment Status - Part Time (48 hours)

Women's and Children's Services

Women’s & Children’s Centre at Bendigo Health provides care to women and children from across the Loddon Mallee region. This service includes Women’s Health Clinics, Women’s Ward & Birthing Suite, Special Care Unit and the Children’s Ward. Women are offered a number of antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care options including caseload midwifery, midwifery led antenatal care and obstetric care. Our service is supported by lactation consultants, maternity support clinicians, social workers, midwifery home care, paediatric home care, and an active education team. We have a team of obstetric and paediatric consultants, registrars and resident medical officers. Our Maternity Service is a Level 5 Service in the Victorian State-wide Capability Framework for Maternity and Neonatal Services which means we care for women and babies from 32 weeks gestation
