Maker&Son is a family-run, high end furniture business with a unique dream - to create beautiful and long-lasting furniture from natural materials that makes a positive difference to people’s lives. Our business model avoids traditional high street showrooms and sells direct to our customers via our website, mobile showrooms and network of show homes. Maker&Son launched in the UK in February 2018, expanded into Australia and New Zealand by June that year and has since established a manufacturer in Melbourne and head office in Brisbane. 

We have a dedicated team of wonderful people working within our growing business and we are now looking for a highly driven National Sales Manager. This role will analyze sales data to develop and implement effective sales strategies to further grow the Australian business. The National Sales Manager will lead our high performing sales team, providing coaching and support, identify new business opportunities, and establish effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, key clients and potential customers.


Day to day you will:


  • Work closely with the General Manager to develop and implement the sales strategy
  • Analyse sales data and insights to forecast, set financial incentives and make sales decisions in line with projected growth targets
  • Lead, inspire and manage the National Sales Team, communicating key strategic priorities and deliverables, driving sales performance and monitoring pipeline and revenue progress across the sales team
  • Research marketplace, competition, and trends to identify potential customers and new market opportunities, developing relationships with key leads
  • Conduct outbound new business calls, attend trade fairs and proactively represent Maker & Son in a broad range of networking activities
  • Work collaboratively with the Operations and Production teams to ensure efficiencies in logistics, sales and administrative processes
  • Maximise incoming sales enquiries, qualifying leads, establishing customer relationships and conducting effective face-to-face mobile showroom visits, assisting and covering Mobile Showroom Managers when required
  • Manage the sales process through to a close, creating quotes and invoices in Xero for customers and taking payment
  • Lead by example by delivering exceptional customer service, solving problems and maintaining strong customer relationships providing great after care service
  • Facilitate effective sales team meetings and actively participate in leadership team meetings


To succeed in the role you will:


  • At least 5 years’ experience in managing a National Sales team with proven ability to deliver revenue targets
  • Previous experience in managing a high performing sales team, providing coaching, sales training where required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confident personality, able to communicate articulately and enthusiastically with clients, management, staff and colleagues
  • Analytical skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work with different technology platforms and online packages including MS Office, Google Sheets Documents and CRM and basic accounting packages
  • A passion for, and/or experience within the design, furniture and interiors industry
  • Have a proven track record closing sales and delivering sales excellence combining your love of dealing with people with hitting targets
