DKSH Performance Materials has an exciting opportunity for a Business Manager to lead our Paints and Coatings segment and join a passionate team who are engaged and driven to deliver for our clients and customers.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, Speciality Chemicals this role is pivotal in accelerating growth opportunities for DKSH Performance Materials. The Business Manager will lead and manage a sales team, driving commercial capability, technical expertise and partnering skill to deliver growth for our customers and clients. The Business Manager has P&L accountability and is responsible for delivering SCI’s largest EBIT budget through revenue growth, margin and cost management. The role will develop and implement plans to achieve sales, profit and product targets, driving market share and product penetration.

Success in this role is a balance of art, science and strategy. The art is in the ability to build sustainable, long term relationships with key clients, key customers and internal stakeholders, as well as provide leadership and growth opportunities to a talented team of paints and coatings professionals. 

Expertise in the science of high-performance chemicals is key to identifying new product opportunities in the market, partnering with existing and new clients, and building technical knowledge within the team to deliver on your business strategy for growth. A strategic mindset together with the ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data to identify and explain trends and articulating the implications on the business is key in this role. The role requires advanced analytical skills, using multiple data sources such as market research data, production and sales analytics to identify opportunities, prepare forecasts, project and sales reports for clients and DSKH as needed. You translate your insights into actionable sales, marketing and pricing strategies, to generate profitable outcomes. This role is high-profile and works collaboratively with the global SCI teams and support functions to maximise portfolio selling and execute sales strategy.

About you

You possess a strong background in partnering with chemical suppliers, customers, internal stakeholders and an outstanding track record of growing market share in the chemical industry. Your degree in Engineering, Science, Chemistry or related field means that you quickly grasp the technical requirements of your suppliers, customers and have a practical understanding of our product applications.

Your strategic approach enables you to determine the most important priorities with the greatest potential for positive impact on growth. You anticipate emerging trends, opportunities and threats and conceptualise how you and the team can take advantage of these. You know how to leverage your teams’ strengths for maximum impact as well as understanding development opportunities and the optimum ways to address for sustainable performance. You develop a clear vision on how to grow the Paints and Coatings segment. To do this you draw on your ability to map your market, identify new and existing opportunities, commercialising these through to the end. Not only do you have the vision, but you execute with precision and knowledge of compliance requirements and teach your team to the art and science of business growth.

You are skilled at articulating the value proposition to suppliers and customers and back it up with credible technical skills and a natural ability to partner with our stakeholders. Your well-refined collaboration skills mean that you develop trusting relationships quickly. Your subject matter expertise in paints and coatings, means that you know the key players, competitors, and industry trends already. You are adept at ensuring your team build a healthy pipeline of activity across the segment and ensure all activity is in Salesforce.com. You can draw on an impressive record of above plan performance, born from one-part IQ and two-parts EQ. Your well refined negotiation skills and attention to the finer details mean that you ensure your team follow your lead in developing commercially viable trading agreements.
