The Opportunity

The Department of Philosophy wants to equip its students to discuss difficult, profound and important questions about the world, other people and ourselves. We are currently recruiting for a 2-year fixed term Lecturer to join our team, to continue our works of excellence across this area.

The successful applicant will have extensive teaching experience in philosophy of mind, philosophy of cognition, critical thinking, ethics and have experience in teaching in Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE) degrees.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Philosophy as well as an established research record, with high quality, international peer-reviewed publications, in philosophy of mind, philosophy of cognition, cognitive science, and ethics.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:
The conduct of tutorials, lecturers and seminars in philosophy of mind, philosophy of cognition, critical thinking and ethics
Development of course materials with advice and support from senior staff
Supervision of major honours and postgraduate students engaged in course work
Conduction of research in philosophy of mind, philosophy of cognition, cognitive science, as well as ethics
Applying for national and international grants
Marking and assessment
Attendance at department, school and faculty meetings

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
