About us
An exciting opportunity exists for two Dispute Assessment Officers to join our team in Dispute Settlement Centre Victoria (DSCV), Dispute Services.
Dispute Services is a multi-dispute agency within the Department of Justice and Community Safety which includes the Dispute Settlement Centre Victoria (DSCV), and Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDV).
About the role
As the Dispute Assessment Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • undertaking the assessment and analysis of the dispute and diagnosing dispute resolution requirements
  • providing advice to parties on options available to them towards the resolution of their dispute
  • making recommendations as to the appropriate use of assisted settlement processes to provide fast resolution
  • providing alternative dispute resolution and case management for parties to reduce tensions, improve communication and clarify issues.
About you

As the Dispute Assessment Officer, you will possess:
  • a working knowledge of relevant legislation and acts
  • a National Mediator Accreditation
  • experience in conciliation (desirable)
  • experience in dispute resolution techniques, including in the assessment of disputes, case management, and facilitative settlement.
Keys to your success will be your ability to build strong relationships and develop an understanding of others in order to motivate and confidently address conflict situations.
