About the role

This position sits within the Operations and Infrastructure Directorate in the Parks and Open Space unit. The purpose of this role is to provide project and program support for the management and maintenance of public land including open space and road reserves in the Shire of Nillumbik.

The role will assist with:
Providing strategic advice to Council regarding management and maintenance of public land
Defining, implementing and reviewing levels of service for management and maintenance of public land
Developing and managing contracts associated with the management and maintenance of public land
Ensuring clear processes for communicating with residents and stakeholders about levels of service for public land management and maintenance

Skills and experience:
A recognised tertiary qualification in horticulture, environmental sciences, business management, project management and/or related fields
Relevant and varied experience in managing and delivering Government or public land management programs, preferably in environmentally sensitive and urban fringe areas
Up-to-date knowledge of current environmental and land management theory and best practice management
Experience working in a technical or operational environment
Experience in undertaking community consultation exercises and liaison with industry and government agencies
Experience in managing and/or working with cross-functional teams, projects, consultants and budgets
Ability to assist in operational response to emergency events such as high wind and flooding
Current driver's licence
Desirable - experience with AutoCAD
