Full Job Description
An opportunity is available for a Research Officer to join the Immunology division at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the position

An opportunity exists for a postdoctoral scientist (Research Officer) to join a research program studying the tumour immune microenvironment in solid and haematological tumours, as well as the function and structure of the microenvironment in other organs.

The program uses cutting-edge multiplex in situ proteomic technologies to interrogate the interactions between tumour cells and the immune microenvironment. This position will provide opportunities to develop and optimise novel technologies and image analysis approaches to understand the role of the immune micro-environment in tumours, including brain tumours, myeloproliferative neoplasms and myeloma. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with collaborators in a multi-disciplinary team across three leading laboratories at the Institute.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will have a PhD in biomedical sciences, with expertise in immunology and/or cancer biology. Prior experience with immunohistochemistry and immunostaining protocols is essential. Knowledge of R and image processing software such as HALO or QuPATH will be beneficial. This position will suit a self-motivated individual with very good communication skills and attention to detail who can work independently within and across an interdisciplinary team of scientists.

Terms of appointment

This position is available for one year (in the fist instance) in a full time capacity. Salary is Academic Level A6 ($91,404). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
