Arbor Centre is based in Wattle Grove and is about 15 minutes east of the CBD.

About You

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic person who is seeking to complete a traineeship in Arboriculture - Certificate III. As a trainee you will have the opportunity to work across our various divisions, however you will predominantly be assigned to the Green Surgery division.

You will begin your Traineeship with groundwork and work your way up …. Soon after you will learn the skills needed to use a rope harness to work in trees and be mentored by experienced Arborists.

We are looking for a focused individual who approaches tasks using care, attention to detail, and caries a sound awareness of their surroundings. Horticultural/Arborist experience and First Aid will be an advantage.

All our workers are required to operate at high Occupational Health and Safety standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To attend TAFE once per week during school terms or as required and complete all assessment work to ensure a pass.
  • To assist the Green Surgery team as directed in all duties.
  • Ensuring that all necessary vehicles, tools and equipment required for the days works are loaded into various vehicles and ready for use as directed
  • Over the course of your training you will become skilled in, and expected to undertake other duties as directed, to facilitate operations including (but not limited to):
    • Pruning Trees using ropes and harnesses
    • General Labouring
    • Site clean up
Preferred Skills &/or Experience &/or qualifications including (but not limited to) are:
  • Being Physically capable and mentally fit to perform tasks at the level of competency required by Arbor Centre Management
  • Possession of valid current WA C class license (required)
  • Police clearance (required)
  • Experience in the horticultural industry (beneficial)
  • Chainsaw operations accreditation (Desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a productive and proactive team member
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directives as well as exercise initiative
  • Good communication skills
  • Possession of valid current WA HR class license (preferred)
  • Construction Safety Awareness / White Card (preferred)
  • Current First Aid certification (preferred)
