Full Job Description
Swinburne is embarking on an exciting journey, working towards our new vision of bringing people and technology together to build a better world. The person we’re seeking is an experienced travel or procurement professional who is agile, commercially-focused and able to effectively manage stakeholder relationships. The role’s main focus will be to implement a new travelsystem across the university and optimise travel management processes. Working within the Procurement team, the role will also lead key procurement projects and category management to optimise value for the university. Whilst not essential, strong travel operations and project management experience would be a distinctive advantage to complement the commercial acumen required for the role.

Opportunities abound to deliver value, enhance business practices, and implement sustainable procurement outcomes aligned with University strategy.

As the Procurement Manager, you will also:
  • deliver value across the full procurement lifecycle, from category planning to sourcing strategy, execution, contract management, procure to pay, and relationship management;
  • develop strong internal stakeholder relationships by providing sound commercial advice and identifying innovative solutions to University challenges;
  • understand the market, having knowledge of the critical cost and service dependencies, and recognizing key drivers for both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the Procurement team delivers on the University key commercial priorities;
  • Execute procurement strategies for stationery, printing, apparel & merchandise, and other corporate services spend areas; and
  • contribute to the implementation of enhanced procurement policies, processes, and systems across the portfolio.

About you
This is a dynamic role that requires a procurement professional who is commercially focused and confident to challenge the status quo, whilst maintaining a focus on governance and risk. To be suitable for the role you will also possess:
  • Relevant diploma or degree qualification, or progressing towards postgraduate qualifications
  • Substantial experience in procurement and/or corporate travel
  • Experience delivering strategic system implementation or sourcing projects with proven success
  • Developed relationship management experience, including the ability to positively influence, motivate and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders
