About The Position

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated person leading the Sportsground maintenance team responsible for the upkeep of the council’s sports surfaces and turf wickets within the municipality.

The role will manage the delivery of the daily operations across Council's sportsgrounds, as well as the annual cultural program, and seasonal changeovers.

The Successful Applicant Will Be Responsible For
  • Develop and maintain annual sportsground maintenance program
  • Enhance and improve sportsgrounds through a continuous improvement lens, working collaboratively with the sportsground maintenance team
  • Responsible for the seasonal transition and renovation of Council’s sportsgrounds to cater for the varied sporting activities
  • Lead a team of 8 officers to deliver maintenance outcomes according to relevant Occupational Health and Safety regulations

And Experience
  • Understanding of relevant sports ground maintenance and infrastructure methods and infrastructure available;
  • Ability to present sports grounds to a high quality standard;
  • Operational knowledge of plant and equipment available to the sports ground maintenance and construction industry relevant to the work;
  • Ability to identify, prevent and/or rectify nutritional/soil deficiencies as well as seasonal pest, weed and fungal problems as they occur;
  • Thorough understanding of all irrigation systems including operation, water budgeting and central control;
  • Excellent communication skills and able to program maintenance with minimal inconvenience to the public including user groups;
Requirement Of The Position (if Applicable)
  • A minimum Diploma of Horticulture or qualification in equivalent horticultural field is required; or
  • Certificate III or IV in Horticulture with relevant experience will be considered, provided there is a commitment to complete further identified training
  • Current Victorian driver’s licence
  • Farm Chemical Users Certificate
